Directions:

From Asheville

Take 19/23/I-26 N. Just North of Mars Hill take the 19E exit toward Burnsville. At the far side of the town of Burnsville, at a light where there is a power tranfer station on the right, go left on 197N. At the T in Red Hill go Left onto 226N and see below.

From Red Hill and Bakersville in Mitchell County

North on 226, Hughes Gap Road is 12 miles from Bakersville, and 7 miles from Red Hill. Shortly before Hughes Gap you will see the Buladean Elementary School on the right. After the school cross over one bridge and take the 1st right on Hughes Gap Road (beside an abandoned store & across from a faded green barn-like building).

There is often no state road sign at Hughes Gap Road due to testosterone rich boys, so if you reach the Recycling Center, you have passed Hughes Gap Rd. Hughes Gap is the 1st Road South of the Center.

Go 2 miles up Hughes Gap Road, and turn Left at the "Rock Creek Pottery" sign onto Big Pine Way.

Cross an asphalt driveway and continue up the gravel road for about 1 mile.

Our one lane gravel road is steep in places, but a 4-wheel drive is not necessary except in extreme weather conditions. The road forks near the top, take the left fork to the showroom.

From Johnson City via Unicoi, TN

At Unicoi (South of Johnson City, TN), take Hwy 107 Southeast toward NC. When you cross the TN/NC line the road turns to Hwy 226 S. Hughes Gap Road is 3.9 miles South of the Tennessee line on NC Highway 226. It is the first Left turn past the Recycling Center.

From Linville, NC

From Linville where Newland Hwy meets 221, take Newland Highway (which turns to181) for 4 miles to Newland.

At the T/stoplight, go right on 194 (which turns to 19E) for 12.8 miles through Elk Park NC and down to Roan Mountain TN.

At Roan Mountain, go left on Hwy 143 for 5.3 miles through Roan Mountain State park to a gas station on the left called Jack’s Grocery.

Go right just opposite the store (the road is marked with Cove Creek, Spencer's Cabins signs, and the Ferrell Hughes bridge). It is 5.3 mi. from this intersection to our driveway. On Cove Creek, keeping on the main road you will cross the TN/NC line where the road turns to Hughes Gap Road (our road) and is gravel for a short distance. Go down the hill until you come to the Rock Creek Pottery sign on the right.
